The Fairness Doctrine: Why Liberals Can't Seem to Take a Hint

Forget everything you ever learned in economics.

Democrats has finally started being sensitive to Al "Lying Liars" Franken and other liberal radio hosts. In shock/denial that the Free Market has decided that it likes Conservative radio shows, they have finally figured out a method that could dethrone Rush Limbaugh from his untouchable throne: the Fairness Doctrine.

To save you the hassle of reading all that, the Fairness Doctrine was instituted back in 1969 in order to say that stations could not have a single view presented, and that stations who give political opinions most also allow the opposing side to also give their view in some form in equal manner.

You know, like those parents who demand that their child have equal play in the baseball game, even though their child doesn't ever swing the bat or likes to sit out in left field and play with the grass during the tee-ball games...

Not that I'm thinking of any child in particular...

It lasted until the 80's, where Ronald Regan removed it. Democrats tried to push it back in the 90's, but Bush threatened another veto.

You'd figure that such a thing would be over and done with, but it appears that we're in Round 3 and the challenger already has their skull cracked in. But hey, if they wanna go another round, we'll go. But this time, we have a new challenger. One who's flaws we're already supposed to give. And unfortunately, due to recent activities by this very blogging program, I can't say his name in a negative tone, lest I fear that his supporters come to find me and claim me as a spam blog...

F*$! it, It's Barack Mother-F#!@ing Obama!

That's right, the Golden Child are Liberals only hope that their message gets spewed from all media sources. There are plenty of talks that they are going to talk about it at the DNC, (from the mouth of Nancy Pelosi and John Kerry) and Obama is their one great shot to get this passed. With McCain in office, they are only guaranteed a 30% chance.

To liberals, not controlling Talk Radio is a bane to their existence. After all, they already control the majority of the media outlets. It's like back in 700's, when the Muslims conquered 95% of Spain, except this one itsy, bitsy spot they couldn't just take over. Talk Radio is the wart on their otherwise "perfect" face. Rush Limbaugh is their sworn enemy, with his recent acquisition of a $400 Million contract which lasts until 2016, making him paid more than every news anchor in the United States combined. He represents a truth that they will never accept: People who listen to talk radio prefer Conservative hosts.

It's not their fault they can't take talk radio. Well, maybe it is...

Most Liberal talk shows that have been hailed by the Mainstream Media as "Liberals answer to Rush Limbaugh" have crashed and burned while Rush stood over the ashes, lighting his cigar, and urinating over the ashes.

Yes, it was that bad.

One of the only few Liberal talk shows that are actually doing decent is Alan Combs, of Hannity & Colmbs fame. I will admit, I actually like listening to him on occasion, mainly because you have to listen to both sides in order to debate them. I actually have a sense of respect of him in the fact that he is actually putting himself up on the table for Conservatives to debate him...not that I actually agree with him.

At least he doesn't walk blindly into the left side like my co-workers. However, Colmbs success is rare, as his fellow Liberal talkers are not so successful.

Air America suffers daily, but somehow exists. Al Frankin continues to truck on with his 10 listeners. Randi Rhodes quit Air America fairly recently, and is currently speaking her beliefs on your local neighborhood street corner (God help you if you try to debate her.) Mike Malloy was the winner (and by winner I mean winning a "Gold Medal at the Special Olympics" type of winner.) for awhile, until he was fired by the Jews.

As you can see, it's a free market, and the market has spoken. Why give a trophy to the guys in 20th place? What kind of message does Liberals hope to send with this kind of "Fairness"? If liberals talk show hosts can't seem to get seem to get radios to pick up their radio programs, then maybe the problem isn't with the radio companies or media bias.

Besides, liberals already have the market cornered on online talk radio. There's just no money to be made there, which ironically fits the demographics of most liberal talk show listeners: having Internet access that doesn't block streaming websites...

which jobs do not generally have.

The Fairness Doctrine would impact Rush since he is on channels which have to receive a license from the government. But I wonder if the doctrine would apply to internet or XM? The free market has a way of triumphing despite the government. Rush will find a way. Maybe Radio Free Rush, broadcasting from Poland to all those trapped in the ObamaNation.

My husband and I have a running joke that a lot of the problems with today's new breed of thinkers is caused by the widespread distribution of "participation trophies" on children's soccer teams etc. Entitlement.
Shouldn't everyone get a prize? (hee hee)

Couldn't agree with you more, Laura. People who do such things to their kids should be put in a foxhole and shot.
